It's almost noon and there is a nice cool breeze blowing through my window. Outside it seems to be overcast and a little warm but overall great weather. I've been wondering for the past few days of how I can earn some money in Jamaica while I'm here and if I stay. It seems as if outside of a nine to five job I would have become my own entrepreneur. Everywhere I go there are vendors and sellers. They are selling everything from food to shoes and household items. I wish someone could sell me the winning lotto ticket! Don't we all wish for this; to win the lotto and have all of our current challenges disappear.

I don't know what I'm going to do today. I have a few chores and then I will see what I can do that's productive towards any of my goals.

I feel for a snack but I'm just going to get something to drink.
It seems as if it's going to be another breezy day. It's not 12 p.m. as yet but there is a little breeze outside my window. The sun is out with some clouds. I have an idea of where today will take me. I am not sure however of how I will end up feeling. There are not too many choices for me to decide. I will have to decide though or life will decide for me.
It just occurred to me that I have not written anything about May 2016. I actually arrived in the island in May. I was very busy going around trying to sort out my business. The weather was similar to June. It was first physically a little challenging to get used to the weather. Where I was winter had just finished. I think I became initially dehydrated. I was drinking a lot. One thing that was kind of nice was that I took the bus and it had music on there. I also enjoyed the air condition.

I had to come to the capital Kingston because that is where I had a lot of stuff to do. The island consists of 14 parishes. The parishes divide the island into sections. You can travel to almost all of the parishes or sections by major highway which is very convenient. There are also many radio stations you can listen to which covers popular genres including reggae, pop, souls, hip hop, gospel etc. There are also many places to choose from to buy food to eat immediately such as snacks or even cooked food wherever you go.

  1. Dancehall music received a lot of attention between May to June 2016. One major issue was the nature of arrangements and agreements regarding several dancehall artiste being featured on Hip Hop artiste Drake's album. Dancehall has surely come a long way in terms of popularity and the changing demands for it. Within the last ten years multiple major artistes from overseas have done collaborations with Jamaican Dancehall artistes. This is not new to Dancehall history however there has been a dramatic increase in the number of collaborations. It is a known fact that within Dancehall there are many artistes who have a challenge when it comes to leaving the country or travelling in general. Although this has limited opportunities for Dancehall artiste it surely has not stopped overseas performers from coming to Jmaica to do collaborations or finding other means to get them done.
